Before they became exceptional teachers, our teachers were exceptional learners.
When it comes to teachers, we’re picky. And we’re okay with that. We only hire dedicated professionals who embrace our philosophy and strengthen our curriculum.
Our five teachers are highly trained and experienced in early childhood education. Each brings a unique strength to the learning environment. And each receives continuing education to ensure they are up to date with the latest information.
Let’s meet them-
Jennae Sevvom, Founder, Director, Teacher –
Jennae founded Harmony Preschool in 1991. But, she has taught preschool and kindergarten in Boulder for over 37 years. She remains Harmony’s owner and Director. Jennae served as a validator with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) for four years and continues to teach part time Love & Logic parenting classes at Harmony.
When not at Harmony, Jennae enjoys spending time with her two grown sons and adorable grandsons. She credits them for being her inspiration along this journey and says they have taught her more about love than she could have ever imagined.
Jennae also enjoys cooking, sewing, gardening, traveling and reading. She has a healthy obsession with home remodeling and design, the Rolling Stones and Bonnie Raitt.
Teaching comes so naturally to Leslie. It’s what she was meant to do. Children are easily drawn to her with her calm, welcoming manner, her wealth of knowledge and kind smile. A student recently said, “Let’s go ask Miss Leslie, she knows everything.”
Leslie has been teaching for 8 years. She received her degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of South Carolina and is Director qualified. Aside from teaching, Leslie is also our assistant director, curriculum director and leads our yoga classes. Leslie wears many hats with a calmness most would admire. Ironically, Leslie’s first job out of college was a program in Columbia, South Carolina also called Harmony Preschool!
Leslie lives in the foothills above Boulder with her fiance’ and pup. Together they enjoy cooking, hiking, camping, kayaking, gardening (Last summer she planted over 20 tomato plants!) snowboarding and just about anything outdoors!
When you first meet Amy, it’s impossible not to feel her warmth and playful energy! Amy makes preschool exciting and fun! Her positive attitude and enthusiasm keeps children engaged and believing in their own abilities.
Amy has taught for many years as both an elementary school teacher and as a teacher and director in preschools in Washington state, California and now in Boulder. In addition to teaching, Amy also manages our facebook page and is our resident photographer.
Amy is a master at problem solving, delegating and managing all the challenges in the day to day happenings at preschool. And, why wouldn’t she be? She has lots of practice at home with her husband, four children and three dogs. In Amy’s free time she enjoys hiking, watching movies, traveling and spending time with her family.
Christy is often seen with a bright smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. Christy is imaginative, creative and a really great teacher! You’ll often find her on the floor playing a game of checkers, helping a child with an activity or reading a book to a group of children.
Before teaching at Harmony Christy taught Spanish to middle school students. She is fluent in Spanish and recently introduced us to the festivities of “Día de los Muertos”. We’ve all learned so much in our Spanish classes thanks to Christy.
Christy keeps herself busy outside of school taking Early Childhood classes, planning her next great adventure, training her new puppy, “Bodhi” and spending time with her husband as they work on their 100 year old home they recently purchased in the foothills above Boulder.
